Lakeview’s 3rd Annual Open House March 15, 2007
On March 15th, we
held our third annual Lakeview Family Open House with 120 people in
attendance.
Representatives from NAMI and Recovery Inc. provided clients’
family members
with information about the family support programs. We also shared
information
about Lakeview, WMH services, recovery, and mental health issues. One
of the
highlights of the evening was a performance by the professional
bluegrass band
“River Road”. Our MSW intern Kristin
Dowley arranged to have the band volunteer their time and services to
provide
excellent and fun entertainment. Lakeview staff was very pleased with
the many
positive comments received from family members. “Since our son has been participating in the Lakeview program, this is the most stable he has been. He is more confident, more responsible, relates to us much better, and has a brighter outlook on life than he has had in many years. We feel like we have our son back. Thanks for all you have taught him and helped him do.”
“Lakeview has been a wonderful program for my granddaughter. She is much happier and has learned a lot about herself and how to handle her mental illness. This makes me very happy. I am so grateful she has a place like this she can go and learn important skills.”
“There are so many important classes and activities that Lakeview offers to help our family member and others learn necessary skills so they can be successful with living independently. It is evident the staff really care and respect the people they serve. Thank you for all of your loving, patient, and professional help.”
“Over the years we have seen the impact your program has had on our mother. She has a purpose at Lakeview and has learned things that have helped her be more independent and happy. We are thrilled to see her excitement when she tells us of the things she is learning and doing at Lakeview. You are making a big difference in her life and in many others.” “When our son first started going to Lakeview he was very lost. We all were. Now he is very much a part of our lives. He participates in family activities, he interacts, and he no longer gets angry and destroys things. Lakeview has helped him gain many skills, which help him communicate appropriately. He is passing the skills he is learning on to our family and others. Thank you.”
